StormPrism FAQs
A. StormPrism EQ was developed specifically to accommodate earthquake loading. StormPrism is not, but can be, designed to accommodate earthquake loading.
Q. Can StormPrism be made water tight?
A. Yes, StormPrism can be made water tight by sealing the joints between concrete sections, from the inside, after all sections have been set.
Q. Can StormPrism be used in conjunction with water quality treatment systems?
A. Yes, Foley Products can supply hydrodynamic separators, filtration systems and trash capture systems to be used in a treatment train fashion.
Q. Can an excavator be used to set StormPrism?
A. The short answer is yes. The use of a crane is the safest way to set StormPrism but an excavator can be used provided it is rated to safely lift the maximum weight StormPrism section, and accommodate the necessary maximum reach.
Q. Can StormPrism be used as an infiltration system?
A. Yes, StormPrism can be used as an infiltration system. That said, completely bottomless underground stormwater detention systems create the eventuality that the stone bottom material will clog with silt and debris. StormPrism can be supplied in a bottomless configuration but we have developed a better system utilizing a concrete base with openings with filters in those openings. Contact Foley Products to discuss infiltration designs.
Q. What is the minimum cover allowed over StormPrism?
A. StormPrism is designed to accommodate as little as 6” of cover with an HS-20 live load.
Q. What is the maximum cover allowed over StormPrism?
A. StormPrism standard designs can accommodate up to 15’ of cover.
Q. Can I operate a tracked crane on top of StormPrism during construction?
A. Foley engineers can run checks based upon the crane size, track configuration.
Q. Can StormPrism handle lateral earth loads applied by adjacent structures?
A. Yes, StormPrism is unlike other “vault” style in that the outer walls are robust and the thickness of that wall can be increased to address lateral earth loads.
